Jason Loden Mayor 2009/2010

By Bob Guelker
In keeping with a long tradition, the new mayor of
Dorset for 2009,
Jason Loden, doesn’t live in Dorset. But, unlike the
winners of some
previous elections, at least he’s not a house pet and
Loden knows
where Dorset is. In fact, he has even visited there!
Loden, from White Bear Lake, vacations with his family
twice a year
at Camper’s Paradise on Lake Belle Taine. He cast his
lone vote for
himself at Trailside Treasures and Treats.
“My wife, Andrea, and kids Maddy and Andy, are very
proud and
impressed that my hard work - filling out a ballot and
fishing a
dollar bill out of my pocket - paid off,” said Loden.
Loden, 39 years old and a Federal Express courier, said
his first
task as mayor will be to move the central Minnesota
Federal Express
hub from Brainerd to Dorset.
“That will provide hundreds of decent-paying jobs for
the citizens
of Dorset,” said Loden.
Second on Loden’s mayoral agenda is to provide universal
health
care for dogs. He plans to conduct several town hall
meetings to
explain the government-financed and run proposal. He was
“mum” on
the subject of including cats in the plan and asks cat
lovers who
might attend the meetings to stay behind the barriers
and use their
“inside voices.”
Last on Loden’s list is to use the millions of dollars
of federal
stimulus money that is earmarked for Dorset on
margaritas. The
government will pay for half of every margarita served
on days that
end with “y,” said Loden.
“All the restaurants will have to do is fill out a
simple
government form, just like with the “Cash for Clunkers”
program,
and the check will be in the mail,” promised Loden.
When asked if his office will institute a contingency
plan in the
event a jumbo jet headed for Emmaville is diverted to
Dorset
International Airport (DIA) and is asked to sit on the
tarmac for an
extended length of time, Loden said, “All the airlines
that use DIA
will be required to post a $500 bond of ‘Dorset Dollars’
for each
passenger and when the first child (or adult) whimpers,
passengers
will be allowed to throw open the exits and slide down
the ramps to
limos waiting to take them into downtown. The passengers
will not be
allowed back on the plane until they’ve all spent every
cent.”
“Now that’s a stimulus plan!” added Loden.
