The
Heartland Trail
The
27-mile paved Heartland Trail from Park Rapids to Walker
provides a scenic route for bicyclists, runners and roller-bladers.
Newly widened and resurfaced, the trail winds through forests
and past lakes as it follows the former route of the Burlington
Northern railroad. A parallel trail is available for snowmobiling
and horseback riding. Bike rental and parking areas in Park
Rapids, Dorset and Nevis provide convenient rest stops of
dining and shopping. A playground and a horse corral are
located at the Dorset parking area.
